Gathering at the National Railway Museum at York this week the BRM team was given an overview of the importance of Locomotion Models from the Science Museum Group’s Retail Operations Manager, Tom Mackie, in contributing towards museum funding which has yielded over a £1m per annum.

Projects such as the Wainwright D Class 4-4-0, which can be seen on display in the Great Hall at York, which was announced in model form this week, are a substantial investment and give a return which is put back into preservation and operations in the free-to-access museum.

The project is progressing with Rails of Sheffield who, as a corporate partner, contribute to the Railway Museum, and Dapol who have designed and will produce the model. The model features new technical innovations such as the ‘snap-fit’ locomotive to tender coupling which gives electrical connectivity without messy wires or frail connections.
