Simon Kohler releases new book

In 2022, Hornby brought the TT:120 scale model railway system to market. From concept to point of sale, this is the story of the planning, design and manufacture of the first all-new TT:120-scale model railway to launch on the market for decades.

The book describes the fascinating process of a product’s journey from drawing board to prototype, and the international team that worked to bring it to fruition.

How an age-old brand re-evaluated its market and its product, introducing Bluetooth technology into its latest offering to redefine its place as a market leader and innovator. Author Simon Kohler, known as ‘Mr Hornby’, is credited with being the powerhouse behind the concept.

When asked why he had written the book, Simon explained, “It is not every day that a new UK-centric model railway system is produced and I felt that there was a story to be told before memories fade. In the book, I describe my 50-year journey and how I was able, with the help of others, to bring Hornby TT:120 into the market.”

The book describes the trials, tribulations and the occasional triumph of introducing a worldwide scale, UK-centric model railway system to the model rail enthusiast.

Simon continues, “The book, Hornby TT:120 – One Size Suits All answers many of the comments and criticisms levelled at Hornby’s initial revolutionary approach to marketing TT:120, as well as pointing out some of the unforeseen issues when designing a completely new model railway system.”

Hornby TT:120 – One Size Suits All is now available to pre-order and scheduled for release on April 26th.
