After a short illness, RMweb founder and BRM photographer/writer, Andy York, passed away on the 25th of March, 2025. His loss leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew him, both friends and colleagues.

In 2005, Andy launched RMweb.co.uk, which quickly became the UK’s largest model railway website. Through RMweb, Andy cultivated a space that was more than just a forum - it was a home for enthusiasts, a place where lifelong friendships were formed, knowledge was shared, and a shared passion was brought to life. His dedication and love for the hobby touched countless lives, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Beyond RMweb, Andy was an integral part of the BRM (British Railway Modelling) and World of Railways team. His extraordinary talent for photography brought countless layouts to life on the pages of BRM, capturing the artistry and craftsmanship of railway modelling in a way few could. His eye for detail and deep understanding of the subject made him one of the finest layout photographers the community has ever known.

Andy was not just admired for his work - he was loved for the kindness, humour, and generosity he brought into every interaction. He will be dearly missed by friends, colleagues, and the entire model railway community.

Absolutely gutted. Andy came to my house to film my working canal lock model and was very complimentary about the rest of my layout. We got on like a house on fire and exchanged a fair bit of correspondence afterwards. A brief encounter, admittedly, but I felt a genuine connection which I will miss. Thanks for all you did for us and enjoy that great layout in the sky
